The Dread Scott V.S. Sandford case was about wether Dread Scott was a slave or free. The facts in the case state that Dread Scott was born in Missouri between 1833-1843. He lived in Illinois a state where slavery was not legal because of the Missouri compromise of 182o. Scott bright this to court to gain his freedom because he was a resident of a non-slavery state. When Dread Scott brought this case to Supreme Court they ruled in favor of Scotts master because he claimed that no pure-blodded negro of African decent and a descendent of a slaves could be a citizen in the sense of article three of the constitution.
