In my first year seminar today we watched a movie on the topic of the March On Washington that occured in the august of 1964. The March on Washington was a protest where about 250,000 thousand people gathered in the Lincoln memorial in Washington D.C.. This march is also famously called the march on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, this March was meant to show the continuing challenges and inequalities faced by African Americans faced. Another famous thing known for this march was the “I had a dream speech” giving by Dr. Martin Luther King. In his speech he preached for equality for all and fair treatment. This speech was also one of the key factors in bringing down the Jim Crow laws. The way that people of all races from all over the country came together to support the african americans and their strive for equality. The march on washington was a monumental event that had a huge impact on the push for racial equality.
